Online Occupational Therapy Helps Kids to Help Themselves

Online Occupational Therapy Helps Kids to Help Themselves

 Hello Everyone,

Aiden is brushing his teeth.

Aiden is brushing his teeth.

Tell me every step of each activity that you completed before 9:00 am today.  You were likely on automatic pilot and you easily prepared for the day one step at a time, one activity at a time.  Now imagine if all of those steps were disorganized or you were “all thumbs”.  Maybe you would feel stuck.

Getting dressed?  What do I need? What should I do first?  Then what?  How will I sequence my steps?  How will my fingers know what to do? What if I hate the way it feels? How can I even start to settle down so I can turn on my learning ears?

Many of our students feel stuck every day.  Beyond completing activities of daily living, such as dressing, challenges extend to academic participation, such as writing.  I remember when my son came home on the first day of school and he was so self-aware.  He said, “Mom, I am always the last one. Everybody else finishes but I don’t…it is hard for me….”  His self-concept had shrunk, but I knew his ability could stretch!

Online occupational therapy is a solution that helps our children to help themselves – so that they can simply have a great day.

Pillars of Success – Foundations of Excellence

At TinyEYE, we focus on excellence for our students.  With thousands of student success stories behind us, we nurture our pillars of success, such as these:

1.  STUDENT OUTCOMES THAT MATTER

When our online occupational therapists partner with homes and schools, we focus on engaging children in their lives.  We help our students feel capable, independent, and excited about participating in their daily activities and school routines.  Our therapists routinely visit face to face, online, with our students.  We learn about their day, observe their experiences, and then implement a relevant program for them that will achieve outcomes and contribute to their ongoing success.  We are accountable for outcomes that matter.

2. PARENT AND TEACHER PARTNERSHIP

Our online occupational therapy program provides caregivers and educators with hands-on tools, multiple visual resources, and ongoing access to your occupational therapist who is committed to driving success for our students.  Likewise, we partner with anyone else who is in our student’s circle of care, such as your speech-language pathologist.  We believe that aligning our goals accelerates success for the children we serve.  We also believe that aligning our program with the preferences and hopes of families, schools, and students results in a collective triumph.

3.  THERAPISTS OF DISTINCTION

When you access support through our online occupational therapy program, imagine what that means for your students. In addition to receiving effective and engaging services through your experienced online occupational therapist, your students have the advocacy of all of us at TinyEYE.  For instance, our award winning software team enriches our service tools daily for our students and therapists.  Likewise, our service excellence manager observes our therapists during service and then collaborates with our therapists to levitate our impact for each child.  All of us are focused on results for your students and it feels wonderful to have a great team behind those results.

School has started.  Student success can start, too.  Bring online occupational therapy to your school. We will help your students – help themselves – to have a great day!

  1. We have been creating a list of activites to review with him before he has to “preform”; What do you do each day. ? 1) wake up 2) eat breakfast 3) get dressed 4) drive to school with mommy 5) 6) go to classroom w Mrs Campbell 7)mommy picks me up for lunch 8) play and have fun He reads this before leaving home and sometimes during the drive to school. Now its memorized but he seems to get some reassurance from seeing the written plan, as well. When we change things ( like Nana picks me up) he watches while the schedule is changed.and reads that over ; no panic .

    • Hi Bev, The written plan (or even a picture schedule) is such a great idea for self-advocacy! As he grows, he will likely start to make these plans on his own which will help him to feel prepared, calm, and effective. Thanks for sharing your story. Marnee 🙂
