Hi Everyone, today I had an idea. I wanted to know what all of you in the blogging world (who know a thing or two about Speech-Language Pathology) think about how we will deal with the current shortage of therapists. It’s not meant to be a loaded question where I want you to answer TinyEYE, but it would be great to get some feedback from you all.

  1. We are definitely feeling the effects of a shortage here in rural Virginia. While it is great for business, it does scare me when it comes to staffing a new private practice. I know many public schools in our area are now hiring LD teachers, or bachelor level SLPs, and requiring them to work towards the masters. James Madison University and the state of Virginia are offering tuition assistance to those working without degrees and offer online classes. A more convenient and affordable route to the education may draw a significant number of people to the field. I’m not sure if this will solve the problem, but it may help!
